So who am I anyways?
I’m Bec Robbins, and I have spent my whole life trying to figure out how to feel great.
As a kid, I did whatever it took to get praise and approval, but no matter how much I accomplished I never felt good enough.
By the time I hit university I rebelled. I dropped out and decided to become an actor. I “thought” if the world approved of me living my dream, then I’d feel great!
Still, no matter how well I did fear, confusion, self-hate and anxiety ruled me.
I got married and became a mama. I shifted gears. Now I “thought” if I had enough love from the people closest to me, I’d feel great!
I was loved more than enough, but I was a perpetually miserable wife and mother. After 9 years, my marriage fell apart.
For the first time, I stopped “thinking” about what would make me happy, and started “thinking” about… MY THINKING.
Then something remarkable happened: I felt great.
Turns out, what I was choosing to think is what was causing my misery.
I had made a mistake in choosing THIS thought: if I’m the best at what I do the world will approve of me, and then I can approve of myself.
Over THIS thought: I am already the best at being me; I cannot become better at that, ever. If I approve of myself first, it doesn’t matter if the world does!
As soon as I chose the second thought as my reality, I fell in love with myself for the first time ever!
Although I had a solid skill set to deliberately shape my thoughts and feelings as an actor, I had never applied ‘thought choice’ techniques to my life-without-an-audience.
You see, actors have one goal: to have ‘authentic experiences’ under ‘imaginary circumstances.’ They must design specific thoughts and visualizations that guide them into an experience that feels real.
Consciously an actor knows that an emotional experience in performance is engineered but unconsciously the experience is no different than if it were happening in real life.
I would frequently have residual post-performance feelings, sometimes for days afterwards and it dawned on me that the effectiveness of my chosen thoughts and visualizations spilled over into my real life.
And so, if people had been paying me for years to authentically experience what was required on camera, why would I not do it for myself!?
I shifted gears again. I probed deeply this time. What was it EXACTLY that enabled me to authentically experience what I felt on camera?
And could I use that to generate what I feel in real life?
It all boiled down to this:
If I was CONSCIOUS of who I was BEING (aka. what I was thinking, doing and feeling)
and simultaneously INTENTIONAL with HOW I was being,
I successfully created my experience.
I committed to developing HOLISTIC CONSCIOUSNESS: the acute awareness of what I was thinking, feeling, experiencing and creating in my life at all times.
Along with that came the understanding of HOLISTIC INTENTION: consistently thinking, feeling, experiencing and creating by choice and on purpose.
This new understanding brought forward all the tools I already had to feel great and helped me channel a great deal more… Tools for wellness and empowerment physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Plus it ripped down the curtain hiding the answers to all my big life questions.
These tools and insights continue to stream into my life daily. They have grown into an ever-evolving living practice that is now my foundation that gives me:
- a deep sense of purpose and clarity
- personal power
- spiritual adventure
- the spirit of play
- peace of mind
- self love and trust
- resources for self knowledge
- profound healing
My life is a conscious co-creative adventure. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I feel great, even when life isn’t.
I believe ‘Happiness’ is our birthright, our natural state, and that our beings are perfectly designed to fulfill us. How that design works is what I’d like to show you.
