HEALTH – Dr. Lissa Rankin

Secrets To Lasting Happiness - Dr. Lissa Rankin: HEALTH

Lissa Rankin, MD is an integrative medicine physician, author, speaker, artist, and founder of the online health and wellness community OwningPink.com. Discouraged by our broken health care system, Dr. Rankin set out to discover why some patients experience miraculous cures from seemingly incurable illnesses, while others remain sick even when they receive the best medical care. Fueled by a passion to determine what really makes people healthy and what really predisposes them to illness, she dug into the medical literature to study how doctors might better care for patients. Her research led her to discover that patients have self-healing powers beyond our wildest imaginings, and science proves it.

She is now leading a “Pink Medicine Revolution” to help patients heal themselves, while encouraging the health care industry to embrace and facilitate, rather than resist, such miracles. She aims to feminize how health care is received and delivered by encouraging collaboration, reconnecting health care and spirituality, and empowering patients to tap into the mind’s power to heal the body. She will be sharing her scientific findings in her upcoming book Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself (Hay House 2013). When not spreading the word, she chills out, paints, does yoga, and hikes in Marin County, California with her husband and daughter.

Dr. Rankin has been featured on over 30 television shows, on over 50 radio shows including Oprah Radio, as well as on websites, magazines, and newspaper publications such as New York Times, Health, Women’s Health, Forbes, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Fox News, Huffington Post, People, Woman’s Day, WebMD, CNN, Chicago Tribune, American Baby, Body & Soul, AOL, and Yahoo.

Lissa’s Happiness Trigger Snapshot

As of this day, my Happiness is triggered when:

I see:: the redwoods where I hike every day.

I hear: my new favorite band, Fun., on my iPod.

I smell: lavender oil I’ve rubbed into my 6 year old daughter when I massage her.

I feel: my heart opening, even when I’m tempted to close it.

I taste: the homemade raw chocolate I make.

I think about: healing my broken but beloved profession- the health care industry.

Lissa is on to something big! I have been looking for information like this to share. I would suggest looking at the work of Dr. Caroline Leaf. She has provided the science to how the brain controls the body. How to control toxic thoughts and emotions. http://www.drleaf.net Wonder if Lissa is familiar with her work? Fits right in with what she is doing. Knowledge is power.

“Without beating ourselves up” is the unifying thread through all of these videos… amazing how we’ve been so conditioned to be our own worst enemy instead of our most self-advocating champion. Loving the series, Bec 🙂

I look forward to Dr. Rankin’s book next year. The miracle of healing is within, and we all need to accept that truth. I hope to work on banishing my aches and pains!

Congratulations, Lissa, on staying with medicine long enough to effect change in it. My serious reservations about the philosophy embraced by the medical community (MDs) led me to drop out of medical school after the sophomore year, and I guess I allowed my pessimistic outlook about the ability to work within that “Kill quickly with scalpels or slowly with debilitating drugs that enrich the big pharma companies” system to influence me more than it did you. Well done! Keep up the good work.
